Micro-Church

Small communities of disciples living on mission together in the neighborhoods of Coatesville — just like Jesus did with his twelve.

What Is a Micro-Church?

Small communities of disciples gathering across Coatesville — in homes, parks, businesses, and community spaces — eating together, praying, studying Scripture, and living on mission in the places they call home.

The Theology Behind It

This Isn’t a Small Group. It’s a Church.

“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” — Acts 2:46

In the early church, the gospel didn’t just spread through big gatherings. It spread through homes. Through meals. Through ordinary disciples who lived like Jesus was real. That’s not a relic of history — it’s God’s design for how the church grows.

A micro-church isn’t an add-on to your week. It’s not a Bible study, a life group, or a social club. It’s the church in its most essential form: a small community of disciples gathered around Jesus, committed to each other, and sent into the neighborhood with the gospel.

Micro-churches look different. Some share a meal and dig into Scripture together. Some serve their block. Some run a food giveaway that’s become a neighborhood anchor. The form varies — the mission doesn’t.

The Rhythm

What Happens When We Gather

Micro-churches meet regularly across Coatesville — in homes, community spaces, and wherever the mission takes root. Every gathering looks a little different, but these four things are usually present:

A Shared Meal

Food creates space for real conversation. Wherever micro-churches meet, the table is usually central.

Scripture

We study the Word together — asking questions, wrestling with truth, and applying it to real life.

Prayer

We pray for each other, for our neighbors, and for our city. Prayer is never an afterthought.

Mission Together

We look outward. Whether serving a neighbor, sharing the gospel, or feeding the block — micro-churches exist for more than themselves.

The Foundation

What Makes It a Church?

A church is any community of disciples gathered around Jesus in Worship, knit together in Community, and sent outward in Mission. Every micro-church — whatever form it takes — has all three.

Worship

We worship God not just through song but by loving the people he loves — neighbors, strangers, and one another.

Community

Real relationships — accountability, shared meals, and genuine care for one another in the ordinary rhythms of life.

Mission

Sent into the neighborhood with the gospel — loving and serving the city as witnesses, whatever form that takes.

The Gathering

The Church Gathered

Every Saturday night, the whole CityWell family comes together for worship, teaching, and celebration. This is where we hear what God is doing across the whole church and remember we’re part of something bigger than our neighborhood.

Micro-Churches

The Church Scattered

Throughout the week, we scatter into the city as small communities — living out what we celebrated on Saturday. Micro-church is where discipleship actually happens: in real life, with real people, in the spaces and neighborhoods we call home.

Business Leaders Breakfast

The Christian Business Leaders Men’s Micro-Church is a monthly gathering for men who are seeking to follow Jesus faithfully in the marketplace. Business leadership can be rewarding, challenging, and at times lonely. This group exists to give Christian men a place to pray together, build real fellowship, encourage one another, and seek God’s wisdom as they grow their businesses and the Kingdom of God. Each gathering includes honest conversation, mutual encouragement, prayer, and connection with other men who understand the weight and responsibility of leadership. Together, we want to sharpen one another, carry one another’s burdens, celebrate what God is doing, and challenge each other to lead with integrity, courage, generosity, and Kingdom purpose. This micro-church meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at Kelly’s in Thorndale, PA.

Common Questions

FAQ

Do I have to be a member to join?

Not at all. Micro-churches are open to anyone who wants to explore what it looks like to follow Jesus together. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you show up.

What if I’m new to faith?

Micro-churches are actually one of the best places to start. You’ll find real conversations, real questions, and people who genuinely want to walk with you. No experience required.

What if I miss a week?

Life happens. Missing a week won’t disqualify you. Micro-church is a commitment to the community, not perfect attendance.

Are kids welcome?

Each micro-church is unique. Most of our communities warmly embrace kids, but it ultimately depends on the focus and rhythm of that particular group. Reach out to the leader of a specific community to ask.

What if there isn’t one in my neighborhood?

You might be the answer to that question. Starting a micro-church in your neighborhood is one of the most meaningful things you can do. We’ll walk with you every step of the way.
