Four Lies Most Women Believe

2 min read

Imagine Eve in the Garden in Genesis walking around at peace, completely free of shame. As women, we have a hard time imagining the freedom she experienced. Immediately after the “fall,” Eve looked to cover her body up because she was ashamed.

Since then, women daily endure and mistakenly believe a long list of lies — some are physical and others emotional. The truth is that we were created by the God of the universe! It’s about time that we start celebrating the value He has placed on our lives. Let’s look to God’s Word so that we can combat the lies with His truth.

Lie  #1: I’m not accepted.

The truth: Stop trying to please men. God accepts you as His daughter!

Galatians 1:10 says, “Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

Romans 8:17 says, “Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”

Lie #2: I’m alone.

The truth: When Jesus is our Savior, we are never alone! He is always with us to guide us. The Holy Spirit lives inside of you.

Deuteronomy 31:6 says, “... for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”Matthew 28:20 says, "And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Lie #3: I’m supposed to do it all and keep everything together.

The truth: God wants us to find rest in him!

Matthew 11:29-30 says, “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Psalm 62:1-2 says, "Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken."

Lie #4: My body is never good enough.

The truth: Enthralled = to hold spellbound/captive. God is held captive by you because you are so beautiful. Stop worrying about the weight, the pimple, the hair, and start seeing the beauty that God sees in you as His creation!

Psalm 45:11 says, “The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your Lord.”

Proverbs 31:30 tell us, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
